Search Engine Optimization Work for Weather Shield Roofing (Debdford, NY)

Weather Shield Roofing is the leading roof and gutter contractor in Westchester County, NY. As with another construction segment client of ours, Katchmark Construction (see the case study on search marketing for Katchmark), Weather Shield Roofing wanted to gain exposure to many potential customers in free (organic search). With a tight geopraghic focus - only Westchester County, NY, it was important to combinine product keywords with many locality names. On a web site with a limited number of pages, making such product - locality name combinations can be a challenge.

Weather Shield's site, including the photo gallery was designed and laid out by Skill Set on the Net (who incidentally also designed Katchmark's site) includes a 15 page photo gallery. This area accounts for most of the page count on Weather Shield Roofing - there only 12 other pages in the main site navigation, covering roof products and material. Because of the very large number of locality names, the names were doubled up on the 12 pages in main navigation (for example, see how many are jammed in this title: Roof Material: Asphalt Shingles, Cedar Shakes, Slate, Synthetic Slate, Flat (EPDM, Modified Bitumen), Metal Standing Seam, Metal Shingles, and Copper for New Rochelle, Port Chester, White Plains and the rest of Westchester County) and the photo galleries allowed for the additional town/county combinations, not to mention descriptions of the roofing products. Since these pages are written in static html, they can be edited with any plain text editor to execute search optimizations.

Once the product names were put together with the localities, the optimizations could really be shown to be “natural” since each set contains product/service words and location names. Weather Shield Roofing, as is typical of a great many businesses encounters a problem in search marketing - to wit - people tend to search on shorter phrases - phrases containing only the product they are looking for. This habit of searchers means that their search results are going to compare pages nationwide or even world wide. Great for someone who wants to buy a computer online, but less relevant to someone who needs a local construction company. Search advertising can show relvant ads, since the search engines have access to location demographics for many search users. However, in natural search, someone looking for “roof contractor” will see in the results too many business located far away, and will refine the search by adding a city/town/county/state name.
